A few months ago Google introduced what can be called "kind of GDrive", a storage service, where users could upload any file type to their Google Docs account. Now, Google has added a feature where users can covert files thus stored into corresponding Google Docs formats (if applicable). There are two ways to convert stored documents. 1) During Upload - While users are uploading a new file to Google Docs, they have an option to convert the document to the corresponding Google Docs format.
 2) After Uploading - If not converted during upload, users can crate a copy of stored files in a Google Doc format using an option from the right click menu as follows:- Â
Points to Note - Please keep in mind that only those files will be converted which have a corresponding Google Docs format.  Also, since conversion from other formats to Google Docs has fidelity issues, formatting, especially in advanced documents might not appear as in the original document. People who are not looking for a web based document manager, might be advised to use an online document management system which helps users directly collaborate on traditional filetypes.
