Following closely on its announcement about enabling users to view .doc and .docx on Google Viewer, Google announced that users can now access Google Viewer from Android, iPhone and iPad browsers. Google Viewer lets users view (but not edit) Google Docs (and other formats) right from their browsers. The ability to be able to view files from mobile browsers will be a great advantage for mobile workers. It is tantamount to having constant access to important business documents for mobile workers. Imagine being able to access Word or PDF files right from your mobile device, even if you dont have a laptop. Pretty cool huh. However, document fidelity remains to be tested for .doc and .docx files on the Google Viewer. Google Docs has a bad reputation of spoiling the formatting when one tries to import documents from MS Word formats. For people whom browser based document access is not important, they may prefer to stick to a traditional document manager, or choose a collaboration software other than Google Apps. Â
